Do you have an OWL figure out by your garden? If you get one other birds usually won't bother coming around the Owl...You could put a post in the ground overlooking your garden and perch the Owl on top...Just a thought...but I haven't actually tried it.
The zoo has an Owl perched by the bathrooms and vending machines by the top of the grass before the stage...so birds don't fly in there. I just noticed it when I was there on a field trip :)
